Welcome to Sarcasm with a Side of Veggies! I’m A.K., and I’ve been blogging since December of 2011. I began blogging over at Girl Emerging to document my weight-loss journey, my renewed interest in all things food, my passion in living via holistic wellness, and my experiences with food, fitness, and fun. I started blogging under the auspices of healthy living, but I pretty much blog about whatever is on my mind. Writing has always been a passion of mine and an outlet for me to express myself. I’m thrilled that I’ve finally discovered a forum in which to write publicly — reader beware! 😉

So, what else is there to know about me? I’m 23, I live in the great state of Virginia, I’m a returning omnivore after nearly a decade of vegetarianism (technically lacto-ovo-pescetarianism), and I’m in the best shape of my life (with a long way to go). I graduated from Longwood University in 2011, and I am currently pursuing my Master of Education degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.

I have the most incredible guy ever. His name is Ian! (You’ll hear a lot about him, especially since we are recently engaged!)He’s in his first year of medical school, so we have a long-distance romance — if you consider 2 hours “long-distance.” We’ve been together since November, 2009.

Besides Ian, my sister is my best friend in the entire world. Her name is Caroline. She’s three years younger, but you’d never know it! We often get asked if we’re twins. In immaturity and inappropriate humor, maybe.

I’m a very family-oriented gal. In my opinion, there aren’t better parents out there than Mike and Ruth. Yeah, I casually refer to my parents by their first names. We’re a tight-knit group, a.k.a. the Lew Crew.

I love to travel and party hardy — sometimes simultaneously! At present, the exotic destinations I’m proud to say I’ve visited include Niagara Falls; Key West; Nassau, St. Maarten, and St. Thomas; Playa del Carmen; and Rome, Venice, and Florence.

I’m not afraid to jam out in the car like I’m Hannah Montana, and oh, yeah… I like to run!

If you stick around, you’ll find out pretty much everything you need to know — and probably some stuff you didn’t want to know — about my little corner of the world. Thanks for stopping by!
